Story of The Seventy Apostles

The Synaxarium reading for The Seventy Apostles

As our Lord Jesus Christ traveled from city to city, preaching about the Kingdom of God, great crowds followed Him. People came to hear His teaching, see His miracles, and receive healing. Jesus looked at the crowds and saw how many people needed to hear the Good News. There were so many people who needed to know God, but there were not enough workers to reach them all.

So, Jesus chose seventy disciples and sent them out two by two. He sent them ahead of Him into the cities and villages He was about to visit. Jesus warned them that their journey would not always be easy. Some people would welcome them, while others would reject them. But He told them not to be afraid. They were to trust God and depend on Him. When they entered a home, they were to bring peace. They were to care for the sick and tell the people that the Kingdom of God had come near. And so the seventy went.
